I'm not getting any error codes. However, all the updates have failed. Only noticed it this morning, but the failures actually started yesterday afternoon.
Also, if there is a problem with Windows Updates causing this problem, does anyone know what update it is? Windows Update installed four on my computer on 3/9/11 (KB890830, KB905866, KB2481109, and KB2479943. I have Windows Vista x64-bit.
How do I MANUALLY install the updates? Haven't ever done that before.
When will Norton be fixing this problem? I noticed in some of the posts within 24 hours. But, what exactly will be fixed? This is really annoying!
I am also experiencing the same issue; it is more than likely that the servers at Symantec are overloaded right now with traffic. I would recommend that everyone take step back, a deep breath, and relax; I am sure that once the traffic thins down update requests will be processed properly. Let's remember that there's recently been a natural disaster and therefore the internet backbone is quite busy trying to keep up with the coverage of the disaster; hence any news servers that run any Symantec security will probably be sending requests for frequent updates to their software in an attempt to keep up with the demand of inbound/outbound data.
VERSION 18.5.0.125 keep getting error in Activity map and reapeated download attempts fail, Also Internal program error. Am I Protected.........Help............Gorpy1
I am getting repeated install failures with Activity Map today as well . VERSION 18.5.0.125
Hi LX3 I hope it's only the Activity map that's the problem, I wonder if the part in my history that says NIS2011 has encountered an internal application problem is part of it...I wonder when it will be fixed and if I can run scans.Thanks.....Gorpy1
Did you both try this solution : click on red text next to failed update, let error recovery start. It will come up with a text like 'No solution found' and a suggestion for a Symantec link
You have to run this procedure yourself, because the resulting link is for your OS and language version specifically.
When you click on the link, download the appropriate virus definitions file (32 or 64 bit) for your OS under step2 and run it.
Then reboot your system and see if LiveUpdate runs without errors.
It worked on my W7-SP1 32-bit system, without the latest patch tuesday Windows Updates..
I have just had a successful update to the activity map problem, so it appears to have been fixed. Everything seems to be back to normal. Please run a manual live update and you should get a successful update to the activity map now, if not yet, then shortly if it has affected more than one server. Thanks
Keep an eye on this forum thread for updates from us regarding this issue. We're still looking in to this and are investigating this and will proactively update this forum thread with information as soon as it's available.
I am also still unable to get any updates and I also recieved a server busy message this most recent attempt; will be keeping an eye on the situation. Norton Mobile Security is also unable to get any updates; there has to be alot traffic at this time.
