LiveUpdate Error 8920,223

Hi everyone,

@calls: From what I can remember (I may be wrong) you should have a green check mark for about 4 to 5 days (it then changes to amber) and on day 7 it changes to a red check mark. As mdturner advises, your virus defintions are still updating.

I have 3 PCs. This LiveUpdate issue is occurring on my old XP Pro 32 bit SP3 laptop. I am receiving LiveUpdate Error 8920,223 when I run the One Click Support tool. I am using NIS 2011 (v18.5.0.125) on all my PCs. I am not at home right now so I can’t confirm if this issue is occurring on my desktop PCs (Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit RTM, the other with Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP2).

I have not yet installed the Microsoft Security Updates for March on any of my PCs. I will do this tomorrow. I last updated them in February.

The following updates do not install for me (just as other posters have mentioned):

1.2011 Revocation List

2. Activity Map Data

3. Safe Web Statistics

4. 2011 Web Protection Definitions

Just like everybody else, my Pulse updates are still working.

I am very confident that this issue will be resolved in a timely manner. I am prepared to sit tight and wait:smileywink:.

Many thanks to Tim_Lopez for keeping us informed.

I hope everyone experiencing this issue has it resolved in a timey manner:smileyhappy:.

Thanks.

This follows recent posting.  As a dedicated customer, I recommend that you send a communication to all of your customers advising of this generalized problem.  I spent more than an hour with your techies who by the way had not idea that this might be a generalized problem for Symantec/Norton - he said "I see no trend".  What data is he looking at?  Look at all of these postings?  He also encouraged me to purchase either a one time, $129.99 tech support to fix the problem, or to sign up for a monthly 19.99 program, more than $200.00 a year which would be taken out of my account whether or not I had a problem.

Come-on folks, you can do better than that for your customers.  You need to advise your techs to stay in contact with you so we're all working from the same page.  You also must advise all of us when the problem is to be resolved.  My understanding is that each day that goes by our computers will be put at greater risk of infection - by the 5th day, we may have no credible defense left.

Thank you.

Hi! Skek9340,

I don't know if you've already been welcomed to the community so; Welcome to the Norton Community!!   :)

Please know that Live Update is still able to download and install the latest virus definitions so your protection there is quite up to date.  Symantec has already deployed their technical staff to work on fixing the problem;  please sit tight and I'm sure the issue will be corrected as soon as possible.

I reinstalled my Norton when this first happened this morning. Should I not have done that? Will everything still be normal?

Hi Crystal123

Reinstalling is not necessary a problem is already fixed :smileyhappy:

Hi! All,

My NIS is up to date and operating properly again. Kudos to all the hard work Symantec did to resolve this issue. :)

Tech83  :)

Yes, I know, but earlier, I reinstalled it before it was fixed. Should it still be fine?

Hi! Crystal123,

Your reinstallation of your Norton product should be fine as long as you downloaded and installed all of the updates available.

Tech83  :)

Tech83,

Thank you for the reassurance.

The only thing that was lost when I reinstalled was my past scan results, but I don't think that should matter.

Thanks Tim and thanks to all who got this problem resolved so quickly. It's all working fine again now. :smileyhappy:
