This time it was Web Protection and Smart Virus Definitions. Historically, the failures included Activity Map Data, Whitelist, Safe Web Statistics; some are the same failures per occurrence.
Everytime I leave my computer off overnight, the failures appear when I run LiveUpdate manually after boot up. If my computer is on all the time and LiveUpdate is running, there is no problem. Otherwise, I have to download the definitions manually and reload from the executable file to clear the failures.
If I’m following the thread correctly, some Norton customers are experiencing sporadic LiveUpdate errors. Symantec has acknowledge the errors and is working on a fix. The errors is that random non pulse updates are failing to install. If you wait and re-run LiveUpdate, those updates will eventually install.
Next time the errors occur, click get support. Then type the error code in the next thread. Also, if you click to visit Norton help website and the page says the error is due to Symantec servers, don’t worry.
The same problem is happening sporadically with 2011 products. It is being worked on by Norton. It's a tricky one because it doesn't happen all the time. There are many that will go thru without a problem and then the next one will have the problem again. When the fix is found, I am sure you will find the announcement in the Forum. Thanks.
