Hi Fastauntie,
I understand your frustration !!
I have also used N360.
Here is what I have done with regards to LiveUpdate.
I am running LiveUpdate manually.
To do this, I have unchecked Automantic LiveUpdate both on the "Settings" -window reached from the main window, and also LiveUpdate in the Controlpanel under "Symantec LiveUpdate".
This has worked very well for me, and I am always in control of the whole situation.
No waiting on the things you have mentioned.
What internet does when it is slow, we can forget.
Try it and see if this works better for you!!
Kurt
Hi,
I forgot one thing
use "Interactive mode"
thereby you will be able to select what is being updated on your system !!
You are from now on in control of the situation !!
Kurt
I do a variation of Kurt's suggestion. If, in Windows Explorer, you look in the c:\Progream Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate folder, you will find a file named LUALL.EXE. This is the fully interactive LiveUpdate user interface. You then can right click the file, drag it to the Start button and place it's shortcut in the first level of the Start menu (above the "Programs" entry). This is much easier to get to than the LiveUpdate link in the 360 main window. I then leave AutoLiveUpdate on for it's routine updates, but use the Start menu shortcut when I want a manual run. You can make the manual LiveUpdate fully interactive (or not) via the Control Panel entry or by using the Options>Configure menu from the upper left of the LUALL.EXE window.
This arrangement works with any program (e.g., NIS) that uses LiveUpdate.

Hi Jim and Fastauntie,
Jim, your suggestion would have been my next step.
I just wanted to get away from this frustrating situation of Fastauntie.
This shotcut from the LiveUpdate-folder I have been using for a long
period of time.
It makes sense, and gives the user the initiative, when in trouble and
a need for an individual troubleshooting step by step schedule is the best way.
Cheers,
Kurt
