LiveUpdate Slows PC

I have NIS 2012 and will not upgrade for now. Except for the Pulse Update, the final LiveUpdate installation step (6 of 6 for example) slows my Windows XP 32-bit PC significantly and takes a very long time to complete - like 2-3 minutes, or even more. Task Manager shows little CPU use during this step - less than 20%. Memory use is also under 30%. My XP CPU is AMD single core, 1.8GHz with 2GB Memory. My Windows 7 PCs with NIS 2012 have more speed, 4 cores and 6GB memory, but the last step is slower as above - just not nearly as long. Maybe this is just a CPU or NIS 2012 issue?
