Hello Robert. Norton will protect the OS ( operating system ) and installed programs on a computer. Personally, I haven’t had to deal with Lock-Bit. However, please keep in mind there are things Norton and all other antiviral solutions CANNOT prevent nor have control of. A few of those are:
- User clicking email links in spam mail and other messages from known/unknown persons.
- Norton cannot force install Windows Update and other software updates to a system when the user of that device, choses not to install those update for whatever reasoning.
- User using Torrents to download and install illegal software.
- User opening a website that has embedded malicious code. Norton doesn’t have control of where and when any user surfs the web.
- User mistyping a URL for a site and gets redirected to an site that will instantly download and infect a device. Mobile or otherwise.
- Norton doesn’t have control of whether a user choses to use an Administrator account or local non-admin account when setting up and using Windows based systems. Therefore Norton cannot control the admin level privileges on a given computer/device to prevent a malicious attack from having those elevated privileges to gain acces to a given system.
Do’s and Don’ts to prevent Ransom\ware:
Hope this help answer your question.
