I have, literally, thousands of log files at:
Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\NortonInstaller\Logs
Windows Explorer took about 10 minutes to list them all.
They all have a dot 7z extension and seem to refer to a time and date, for instance '2011-06-19-09h14m44s.7z'.
Is it safe to delete them all?
Why do I get thousands of log files?
Hi,
if you would like to delete them, you can do it, but only remove the *.7z files.
Let us know the results.
Have you ever had a Norton Public Beta installed on this computer? When we conduct Public Betas, we set the PB version to create a lot of logs. This way, when you encounter an issue, we can get a comprehensive look at what's happening. There may be some remnant Public Beta code on your system, if you did not restore a backup after testing. Please let us know if you've had betas installed. Thnaks.
I have never had a beta installed on my PC.
There were over 179 thousand files. A lot of the files have been created within the last 2 months - can I stop this?
Can you please tell us the exact version of your Norton product?
1. Open the main window
2. Click on Help & Support -> About menu
3. On the About window find the version number (it will look like this: 5.1.0.29)
Thanks!
Did you updated to version 5 just recently?
Yes - it was done automatically.
