Low Storage available for online backup

ALl,

I've read a few other posts, but I haven't found an answer to my problem.

I am getting a message saying "You have low storage for online backup."  Of course, there is no green checkmark in the system tray.

I read over the threads by "jorge" and I went to Manage Backup and clicked on Change.  There it tells me I have 1.1GB selected for backup, 2GB Total capacity but only 47 MB available!

I clicked on Delete Previously Backed Up Files... and it tells me that there are no backup up files.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

-Shawn

Hi Shawn,

Welcome to Norton Community!

It is not compulsory that you need to backup only to Online Storage Space. You will get a 2GB of free Online Space as default with the purchase of Norton 360(Standard) which may not be adequate of backing up the whole data from your computer. You can change the backup settings(destination) to any other internal drives in your computer or to any external harddisk(if you have any) accordingly. Use the online storage space only to backup critical and most important files/folders instead of storing all files from your computer.

For deleting the files/folders from the Online Storage Space, you can try the instructions mentioned in the following thread:

Yogesh,

I understand that I don't need to backup to the online site.  But, I have 1.1 GB selected for backup and 2 GB is available.  Why is there only 47 MB remaining?

Hi shawnerz,

I'd like to find out a little more information about your situation.

-What version of N360 are you on?

-Did you recently install?

-How much online storage was available after installing?

-What have you done since installing?

-Have  you previously backed up anything to Online?

Hi Shawnerz -

If you are running Norton 360 version 3 could you go to the Norton Backup Drive under My Computer in Windows Explorer, and then click the Secure Online Storage folder?

Do you see any backup sets under this folder?

If you are not running version 3, have you considered upgrading?

Information on upgrading can be found at the following link.

Thanks.

Hey there, John.

Thanks for the response.  I think I know what the problem is/was.  I have two laptops and a desktop on this N360 account.  I logged in the "nubu" site and saw that one of the laptops stored a 1.1 GB backup.

I thought that each computer got a 2GB backup.  I guess I was wrong.

John,

I will probably upgrade when my current subscription runs out.

The "problem du-jour" has to do with deleting my online backup in version 2.5.

I want to delete the entire back up that is stored at nobu.backup.com.

I got to the Backup Settings screen, clicked on "Secure Online Storage", got to the "Backup Destination" screen, and clicked on "Delete Previously Backed Up Files."

The next screen is a Backup Settings screen.  I'm not exactly sure what N360 is expecting me to do here.  Anyway, I clicked on "Select All", "Remove Selected Files" and then OK.

N360 took about 20 minutes and there was a lot of network activity.  At the end of it, my backup is still at nobu.backup.com.

How can I completly remove the backup so I can free up space for another computer?

Thanks,

-Shawn

Hi Shawnerz -

This was a feature we added in version 3 so I will have to contact someone here to get your backup deleted.

If I could also recommend... version 3 is a free upgrade as long as you hold a current subscription.

This post contains all of the necessary information to upgrade:

shawnerz,

I recommend upgrading to v3 if you are having trouble deleting data from online storage. That is one of the many features which was greatly improved from v2 to v3. As mentioned this upgrade is free.

In the meantime if you would like some assistance in getting your online storage cleared you can contact me directly either via PM or email (my email address is in my profile) and I will help you get things resolved.
