Never seen that one. I click Run and then type in luall and hit enter. Never had a problem with it. Is this in Vista or XP?
Phil,
Sorry should have noted, XP w/ SP2. " I click Run and then type in luall and hit enter". - same for me too, I've not had a problem that LiveUpdate didn't run or run correctly, rather the repeated pop-ups were annoying and I discovered the unsigned binaries as I tried to follow some earlier suggestions.
Thanks

I have heard that sometimes a bad file can get into the definitions and gets stuck, interferring with the LU process. Try using the intellegent updater file in the virus definitions page on the antivirus support website. It may get rid of the problem for you. It replaces all the definitions with the latest (today’s) definitions.
Phil,
Thanks for the idea - I manually updated the files with the intelligent updater - tried to do so automatically but the tool would not download - says my subscription has expired even though it's good into 2010. In any case, after the download, logged off, rebooted and tried again - see the same message so I'm going to leave this alone unless someone comes back to tell me it's a serious issue. In the meantime I'll try to figure out why I can't use the auto tool for intelligent updated when I have a valid subscription.
Thank you for your help.

Ok you might try this. If you sub is current, you should be able to go to the subscription screen and activate. It should recover the key from the norton account that you created and update the sub information in the program. Then check to see if you have the LUnotify option set. There is a seperate program entry in the nis on the start menu. If this is activated then you get popups. I think you may have to edit the regestry entry to delete it if you cannot turn it off. It's been a while and I am trying to go from memory.
