Mac Air updated from High Sierra to Catalina - Norton Set Up problem

Have just updated my wife Mac Air that was running High Sierra 10.13.6 to Catalina 10.15.7.

Norton Security was already on pc and had been running properly. I now keep getting the message that you havnt finished set up and your computer is not protected....

A screen appears and I follow the instructions to go to system preferences. I then go to security and privacy, click the padlock in bottom left and type in password to unlock it. However there is no Allow button for me to click. When I click continue, Norton tries to validate system extensions but fails. I have restarted mac and cannot seem to get the Allow button that i need to click on to appear.

Help to resolve would be greatly appreciated.

Good news. Thanks for posting back.

I have just done the update from Catalina to Monteray and no issues at all with Norton. Shows as protected straight away and no need to complete set up etc.

Managed to resolve the issue, without uninstalling existing Norton Security from Mac Air as follows:

On the Mac Air I went to safari, signed into my MyNorton Account and clicked on the user icon at top right hand side.

Chose Manage My Subscriptions and found the Norton Security subscription that the Mac Air was using (for me it is one of a Norton Security 10 devices subscription). A pop up appeared asking me if I wanted to download Norton Security on this device and I clicked Agree & Download on Mac option. I followed the instructions and opened the downloaded file. Installer screen appeared and clicked on Install. When process completed an Installation Successful Message appeared and I clicked the button to Restart.

When I opened Norton the Set Up not complete message appeared again but this time when I went to System Preference/Security & Privacy the Allow button was there - I unlocked padlock at bottom and clicked to Allow. Then followed further instructions and eventually Norton Security successfully set up and working.

I am now being prompted to update to Monteray (for some reason I couldn't go straight to Monteray from High Sierra). Fingers crossed. If the Norton set up not complete issue arises again, I will follow the above.

When I had a problem with Norton Security on a windows PC after a software update (Defender had taken over and could not be turned off) I fixed it by logging in to my Norton Acoount, clicking on user icon at top right and going to Manage My Subscriptions. I found my Norton Security subscription and clicked on the download link there. I didnt need to uninstall my current product as the install process took care of that if necessary.

Hopefully the same approach will work to fix my problem on the Mac Air without having to uninstall.

Thanks for asking for this thread to be moved to Mac forum board - apologies; i chose Norton product forum and missed Mac.

Just updated the OS as several apps could not update due to High Sierra being too old. Norton still showing as usual but unable to do much before the prompt to complete set up appears. Not tried uninstalling and then getting fresh install yet - I am not particularly familiar with Mac and presumably there is a set procedure to follow to uninstall.

I've asked this thread be moved to the Mac forum board where more Mac users are likely to see it.

I'm not familiar with Mac OS updates. Were you able to just update the OS and keep the apps that were on the device? If so, even on Windows, an OS update can cause issues with installed apps, often requiring the apps to be reinstalled. Have you tried uninstalling Norton and then getting a fresh install from your Norton Account?
