Hello, I've been a satisfied 360 customer for almost 2 years now. However I'm having MAJOR issues with my laptop lately. (Norton issues started around 3 weeks ago)
1st thing i noticed, was norton acting weird (had 2 icons/dropdown menus when right clicking, they were not identical)... Didn't think much of it at first, assumed it was a minor glitch that would be fixed in no time. But it wasn't, it only got worse. A few days later, i was going to put some songs on my SD card, and my reader refused to even acknowledge it being inserted... again, didnt think too much of it, definitely had not realized a correlation yet. But then i tried, 1st reading, then writting a DVD (also reading cds). Though again, my computer did not even acknowledge me inserting the discs. So for the last week or so, i've been trying to figure out whether i have a virus or what. According to my computer, my DVD player/burner and all my ports are working correctly.
So I've been troubleshooting like a mad man, and apparently I'm missing some drivers that are nowhere to be found. I've tried all of the options available at "HP Drivers & Support" but instead of finding the "missing drivers", their software just updates my BIOS. Windows Troubleshooter could not fix it either. (However, Norton fixed itself 2-3 days ago, though it did not fix any of the others issues... First it told me to remove microsoft security essentials, then tried to update, failed, then uninstalled and re-installed itself. Successfully, thank god.)
BUT ON TOP OF ALL THAT, I ordered an external usb HDD off of ebay, which I'm sure you can already assume, Isn't being properly recognized by my computer (though it does at least give me a pop up stating this, instead of just not recognizing it at all). I'm still in the midst of troubleshooting this, and hopefully i can get it to work, so i can just throw everything on there, and do a fresh install. But i have my doubts it'll work.
So, I don't know what to do. I need help... What are my options here? A month ago everything worked fine, now either i have a terrible virus that norton should have caught, or norton itself completely shagged my system.
