Major issues with NIS 2013 and Windows 8

I have just uninstalled Norton from my computers - again! This time it's Norton's issues with Windows 8 - and judging from the number of posts in this forum, I am not alone. I have experienced 2 issues - one of which is a showstopper:

  1. The lack of communication with the Action Center in Windows 8, resulting in error messages from Windows. This is no serious problem, but something which shouldhave been fixed in beta testing.
  2. Norton blocking receiving e-mail and executing files after sleep. This issue is a showstopper: Sometimes, after my computer has resumed from sleep, Norton does not wake up completely. This results in me being unable to receive e-mail (as the Norton scanner is hanging), being unable to open new program (as Auto Protect is also hanging) and the computer hanging when rebooting. In short, this makes the computer unusable.

Both this issues have been discussed extensively in these forums for months, without being resolved. It appears that Symantec doesn't care - not that that is news in any way. I somehow doubt I'll be renewing my subscription next year...
