I have heard before that if one is infected and the computer is being used by an outside entity, that there will be a LOT of activity showing as far as the activity light on the DSL box
I have DSL and my connection to the internet is 24/7. while there is not a whole lot of activity (When I'm not using the internet browser) I do sometime snotice the activity light on the DSL box will flash, maybe a second. As I say I am not using the browser ath the time. When I have checked the activity and connection logs (I use NAV2008) after seeing this light flash, I do not see any activity recorded nor do I see any connection recorded to the internet. I know that the activity log will og many programs that acces sthe interne on their own like norton updates, Java updates, etc But I do know that at times my machine will look for microsoft updates and that won't be on the activity log, but it will show on the connection log.
So my question- if the activity light flashes for a second and there are bno corresponding notations on the internet activity or connection logs, could this be maleware using my computer?
My guess would be if it were maleware, it would be blinking like a son of a gun and it would log what/where the connection is on the internet
All my scanning activities as usual show clean. So can this momenatry flash of light be nothing?
