Malware in .jpg files

Hello,

Was browsing at this forum about how to spot a potential virus/malware in jpg files, however the topic I found was kinda outdated.

I came accross some older sites that give an explaination such as http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Hide-Files-Inside-Pictures/

Does Norton scan such jpg files for hidden malware in the first place and how can you figure out if a jpg file has potential malware in it?

I would be careful about both Google and Bing images; I've seen the case where Norton will block a malicious image while still residing on the search engine page let alone directly visiting the site the image resides on.  Norton 360 does allow for the scanning of stealth items:

Just realized the link doesn't even work anymore lol. If possible this post can get deleted. thanks
