I understand that two anti-virus programs shouldn't be run at the same time. Would there be a problem running Malwarebytes or Spybot along with Norton at the same time?

Adding to dick, Two AVs with active realtime scanners will really cause chaos until you really know how to deal with them and have a good rig.
Hi, fasteddie. Spybot is not the program it used to be. As the others have said, one real time component {Norton, of course ! }, and MalwareBytes Free as a passive backup scanner, is really all you need.
Hi fasteddie,
To add to what F4E said, instead of SpyBot, you can try SuperAntiSpyware Free - in the case of both MBAM Free and SAS Free, do not accept the Pro Trial as that also runs in real-time.
Thanks, everyone. I understand now that as long as an anti-virus program isn't running in real time it won't conflict. I've used MBAM on my previous XP laptop with good success.
Hi, fasteddie. Just bear in mind that even if the real time component of another anti VIRUS program is not enabled, the components of that program may still conflict with Norton.
MBAM and SAS are more anti malware and anti spyware programs, and as long as the free versions only are run as passive scanners, that's fine.
