What is going on here, i purchased the product. my account says my device is unprotected after 100 attempts. called customer service in three nations only to hear a recording say the number is incorrect. left a few messages with the chat and still no response. is this a legitmate company or just a scam site?

You cannot leave messages with Chat. You start a session and converse with the agent to try to help resolve your issue. www.norton.com/contactcs If using the chat function, as soon as you can enter any information, enter "agent please". That will get you out of the chat bot and connected to a human.
Where are you getting these phone numbers for different nations? You should only use the official Norton phone numbers for your actual location. You get those from the Norton Support contact link I mention above.
