MBAM/ Norton 360 Conflict

Have been running both successfully MBAM freeware (no live scanning) and N360 Standard 20.3.1.22 on Windows 7 Premium x64...just today got this popup requesting me to uninstall MBAM. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time...

Hi Paula,

There is a long thread about NIS/MBAM conflict, and I understand it applies to Norton 360 as well.

If you want to have a look at it, it's here, where you will find Tony Weiss'  assurance that Norton are working at it.

Hi Paula,

Please note that I was of course referring to the free version of MBAM.

Sorry for the omission.:smileyembarrassed:

Didn't seem to be a conflict that I could tell and yes Laura :smileyhappy: I am using the freeware MBAM. Thanks to everyone that replied...I didn't think there was a problem...seems I saw that thread somewhere and it reassured me that it was a false conflict. Am really happy with both programs...seems to be a good way to protect my computer ....these boards are awesome for problem solving and kudos to everyone that helps anyone here...I'm glad I found this community. I love reading up on the problems and solutions even though some of it is waaaaay over my head lol.

Thanks again!

Paula

Yes, I am having the MBAM conflict problem.  Yes, I can hit the skip button and the fix seems to proceed.

No, I cannot open Norton Internet Security or do anything else with it.  I just get the MBAM conflict message over and over again.

I am using the paid version of MBAM, maybe I'm a sucker, but it seemed the right thing.

While all this is going on I can't connect to my SMTP server at roadrunner (I had to register from this other computer because I could not respond to the email verification).  The ISP says it's because norton is blocking the connection.  I can't even disable Norton to see if they're right!

Hello Edsolem1,

I was thinking that it may help you to start your own thread as this one has been marked solved and many people may either simply now skip over the thread or simply jump to the solution and not see your issue.

While I am here was wondering that if you have both programs (NIS & MBAM) running actively (I forget the proper term) that can cause some conflicts... No sucker, many people use more than one program to help protect their system, just that most people use anything other than their primary protection in an 'on-demand' so that the other programs simply run when you ask them to instead of both or more running in memory all the time. Perhaps uninstalling MBAM pro would give access to your Norton product.

Sorry I cannot be of more help but it is why I suggested starting a new thread for yourself.

Please take care,
