But I wonder why every I see, I can see McAfee(R) not Symantec…
Not sure what you mean by seeing McAfee(R) everywhere… if you mean like computers from big box stores and such I would hazzard they are hooked up to a broadband provider that supplies McAfee for free to users. Like my isp offers F-Secure suite free of charge but I prefer Norton. Norton does not do the isp bundle thing as far as I know.
I only wish for Symantec to be included in manufacturer computer like Dell, HP, and Toshiba, just to name a few. Unfortunately, all of these companies bundle McAfee!!! My ISP, Sky Broadband, also offer McAfee for free.

I was a McAfee user before I became a user of Norton. I first had McAfee on Windows 98. I was not at all pleased with it - it slowed down the computer, I didn't find it user-friendly - I dumped it and bought Norton. And have stuck to Norton ever since, all the way through my computer and OS changes.
My father bought a laptop with McAfee preinstalled. He didn't like it much, he felt that it slowed down the computer. He removed it and installed NIS 2009. He is very pleased now.
Apart from that, we all know that McAfee's detection rates are inferior to Norton's.

But it seems fustrating to waste a 15 month subscription offered by McAfee. It would be great if was a 15 month subsciption of NIS2010!
If you have bought a laptop with McAfee preinstalled but have not yet purchased a subscription for McAfee, then you can simply uninstall it (it is strongly recommended that you run the McAfee removal tool) and then install Norton.
I haven’t purchase the subcription but Dell offers a 15 month McAfee subscription with every new computer purchase…

If you buy a Velocity Micro computer, the only security program you can buy from them is NAV. No other company security is offered. It's either that or you don't get any security software. You do have to buy it from them and they will install it. I don't know if the ones that are in stores have it already installed, but if you order a custom made computer, it's NAV that is offered.
Many stores probably put McAfee on the new computers just because it is free. You know what they say, you get what you pay for. 
I agree with what others have said, as I also used to have McAfee many years ago and it definitely did slow down my computer. I seem to also recall that it took somewhat longer to get a new virus definition update when a new virus hit the internet, as compared to NAV. But this part may be a perception thing.

I encourage my clients to use Symantec, but one of them wanted to take advantage of the free McAfee that Comcast offers, as her NIS subscription was expiring. I wasn't going to force her to use Symantec, but since Symantec had been on her machine up to then, it gave me the opportunity to compare both in virtually the same setting. I used to use McAfee, but had enough bad experiences with them that I permanently switched to Norton just about 10 years ago. I won't say that Norton has been perfect, but in the long run I've been satisfied, and I definitely like the direction it seems to be going in now.
To me, "free" is the most pointless reason for getting or using something. Think of all the things you wouldn't do or try even if they were free. But if saving money is vital to you, wait a week or two and you will a good enough offer (counting rebate) for either the new Norton2010 or the old Norton2009 (which entitles you to the free upgrade to 2010).
McAfee ohhhhhhhhhhh not again!! Guys it is very much clear, Norton is far better than McAfee, whether it is in test report or the support and other new features. My father was having McAfee on his laptop that came preinstalled by Dell, but my father was not satisfied with it's performance in many aspects so he installed Norton 2010 and now he is happy..!!

I think the straight-up answer is that McAfee provides the software free or at extremely deep discount in hopes that buyers will continue to use and purchase McAfee. It's a common marketing ploy and certainly should not be seen as a measure of which product is best.

Who cares about wastage of McAfee subscription, if McAfee does not worth to be kept in system, then it should be better uninstalled. Regarding bundeling Norton, i also wish it should be done by OEM companies.

It is not Mcafee or Norton that decides the subscription of the preinstalled products which you receive through Dell or any other computer manufacturer. I think, the software products are provided to the computer manufacturer on the basis of the partnership program as per their request. So, Symantec provides subscription of 60/90/120 days of subscription in OEM products as per the partnership program opted by the computer manufacturer. It's up to Dell to decide how much subscription they need for the OEM version of Norton program which they provide to their users(who purchase Dell computers). Symantec may surely consider that if Dell asks for extending the subscription for OEM version.

I never liked McAfee. If I saw it installed on my new machine, I'll uninstall it.
First, it was NAV. Then I switched to Kaspersky because NAV was a real resource hog. Then, after finding out through a recent PCMAG eval of the new (recently released) NIS package which said designers "pulled out all the stops" to make NIS as light on resources as possible--and proved it with is own monitoring function--I immediately got it.
A really good app. I made the right decision to get NIS 2009 instead of NAV, and I'm going to get a $20 rebate out of it because I was a previous user of a competitor's product.
McAfee? Phffft... C'mon.
It's true, however, that no single product catches/detects everything in the wild, but it's also true that some products perform better than others. Norton outperforms McAfee... hands down. Okay?
Doesn't mean I'm a fan of Norton.

Agreed, whole heartedly! Norton AV suites have come a long ways and I too have found NIS 2009/2010 very light on resource requirements. I am very happy with it. It uses pulse updates to get new virus definition signatures w/in minutes and I believe that Symantec Anti-Virus developers stay on top of the latest threats better than any of their competitors. I've seen many a threat be resolved by Symantec with a new virus signature quicker than any other out there.
Looking forward to NIS 2011 a year from now!! 
But NOW I'm starting to feel old so I better shut up!
