What do you know about McciTrayApp.exe from Motive Communications Inc (version 6.1.0.136, created 2007.12.19 10:12, 1.40 MB)?
It continuously take close to 10% of my cpu!
I found it in my C:\Program Files\BellCanada. Called Bell Canada. They didn't know the file and recommended to kill the process.
I removed it from startup using ms config and on reboot received a pop-up from GoogleBarNotification telling me that I had changed my startup, that there was some utility running, and that I should restore my startup as it was before. I killed the utility, but expect to see again each time I'll boot my PC.
I scanned the BellCanada folder with Norton and it came out clean.
Any idea?
Thanks,
Pierre

Sounds like BellSouth needs to change its call center <g>
Just did a google on that file and there are plenty of references to it. According to one it:
<< Tray icon for Bell South broadband customers which can be used to diagnose and repair connection and hardware problems. This software is rebranded software from Motive >>
So if you don't need it you could disable it. It sounds a bit like the RoadRunner Medic that my ISP supplies. I would not see any reason to have it running all the time.
You might have to look for more than one entry in MSCONFIG to stop it completely, or right mouse click on the icon in the System Tray and see if the context menu offers options. Also check out the applet itself and see if the options include whether or not it runs on startup.
Hope that helps.
