I tried another test at edge://components after updating to MS Edge v90.0.818.51.  Results were similar to what I posted <here> for v90.0.818.42 (i.e, Status Unknown for ~ 30 sec; Status - No Update Available for most components after a brief Status - Updater Started; Status - Up-to-Date after page refresh) but this time my Speech Recognition component was actually updated from v0.0.0.0 to v1.0.0.4.  That gives me a bit more confidence that the component updater is actually working now.
