There is a discussion on this topic in the AskWoody forum at FYI: Edge 105.0.1343.25 Refuse to Launch After Ppdate and Susan Bradley just noted <here> that MS Edge v105 added WebAssembly (WASM) support for Enhanced Security Mode on Windows 64-bit systems, but so far I have no idea how widespread this problem is or what the root cause is.

Microsoft Edge 105 won't start due to old group policy - How to fix
[...]
If you find that Microsoft Edge will no longer start, you can delete the MetricsReportingEnabledvalue from the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge or the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edgeregistry keys.
AskWoody's Susan Bradley told BleepingComputer that many of the people affected by this issue used the "I don't want telemetry" setting in an older version of the O&O ShutUp tool, which appears to have created this Registry value.
Another privacy tool found by BleepingComputer to create this value is PrivateZilla.
Until the next version of Microsoft Edge is released, users can remove the MetricsReportingEnabled to use the app without it affecting anything, as the policy has been deprecated since Microsoft Edge 89.
According to Susan Bradley's post # 2474421 in the AskWoody thread FYI: Edge 105.0.1343.25 Refuse to Launch After Update she was told by Microsoft that the bug fix for the MetricsReportingEnabled registry / MS Edge v105 failure to launch problem isn't expected until next week. I believe MS Edge v105.0.1343.27 was released on 02-Sep-2022 to patch a zero-day exploit (CVE-2202-3075) that was detected in the wild. Her post # 2474571 today would seem to confirm that.

Martin Brinkmann's workaround on ghacks.net (i.e., search the registry for MetricsReportingEnabled and delete the one or two instances of the key to get MS Edge working again) ties in with cyberSAR's comment in post # 2474346 of the AskWoody thread FYI: Edge 105.0.1343.25 Refuse to Launch After Update. CyberSAR was using an older version of O&O Shutup and discovered that O&O would re-create that MetricsReportingEnabled registry entry if it was manually deleted, which in turn would prevent MS Edge from opening again. An update to a newer version of O&O Shutup solved their problem.
