The Microsoft service "gamingservices.exe" keeps coming up as trying to access Norton files and when it does this Norton blocks it. This has caused my ethernet port to stop working and its now disappeared completely from my computer. The service cannot be turned off and appears to have been locked by Microsoft so it cant be deleted or disabled. Does anyone know how I stop this conflict with Norton blocking my ethernet port please?
If any file or process tries to access a Norton file or process, the Norton Product Tamper Protection feature blocks it so that your Norton product cannot be compromised. That in itself should not affect the operation of any Windows feature or network connection. There is no reason that outside apps need to access Norton. Even some Windows features are blocked when they try to access Norton files.
Start by restarting your computer. Restart, not shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.
Then check your windows installation. Click on Start and type CMD in the search box. Right click on cmd.exe and click on Run as Administrator. Type 'sfc /scannow' without the quotes. This will check your Windows installation and try to correct any errors it finds.
