Per the article, forcing yet another hardware fiasco doesn't make sense at this point. That said, remember, they did just that with Windows 11, leaving millions with hardware that runs everything under the sun out in the rain. From the article comes this statement:
If you recall, Microsoft was at AMD's CES 2023 event earlier this year endorsing and discussing the advantages of such hardware. Hence, such a recommendation does not seem too far-fetched. It is unlikely though that such hardware will become a minimum system requirement for next-gen Windows as the vast majority of PCs today lack both AMD's Ryzen AI technology and Intel's NPU (neural processing unit) / VPU (vision processing unit).
Don't put your money on MS not forcing hardware as a pre-condition a second time. Personally, I'm not spending thousands just to run what more likely than not, will be an "insider edition BETA", yet again, riddled with more issues that need corrected. That should be done in-house before going live in my view. Companies in general, haven't learned anything, except, not having good in house QA, bumping that out to paying customers, will have dividends on their bottom line. Its past time to retire the insider program fiasco and get back to basics at Microsoft. I'm as always, keeping one eye on the new Linux distros. Windows is now an app for MAC as well. Too many people have killer hardware that works just fine to keep moving on and on while filling the MS coffers. Microsoft had better listen for those "quiet steps" away from their side of the market.
