I have to come to their (Norton) defense a wee bit.
I am currently running on NIS2007 and on test computers running NIS2009 with a few pains, well, in fact 1 pain that I know of.
I would like to run my home network on NIS2009 eventually. Since I am almost at the expiry date of my 2007 product and their 2009 product have some quirks, I don't necessarily have all the time in the world to wait for them to rectify one of my major issue that I described in another thread. Mind you, the issue I am facing is far from being a normal installation/situation.
Having said that, in my case, I could sidestep the problem at this point by moving a certain folder that is on a server to each individual machine and that would be it. It's against my principles though to bend to a software so I look and tested 4 of their competition just in case.
You know, we can bitch all we want, I would only move elsewhere as a last resort. I did not like what I saw and tested elsewhere. Norton 2007 was and is still a very good product with the Norton addon pack installed which blocks the ads.
Norton 2008 did not include adblocking and was bloated so I prefered to stay on 2007 for an extra year.
Having said that, bitch all you want, nobody can beat their 2009 product in speed and footprint. I would have liked to see adblocking included in there but IE7PRO well configurated does the job. NIS 2009 still has quirks to iron out but the 2009 products I tested from their competition also had problems and were harder to install and use for a normal and advanced user. I guess nothing is perfect and you know what, having seen the others, I will bend my rules and move the damm folder so that I can use NIS 2009 for the upcoming year.
So, let's all hope that they can rectify my issue so that I can stop moaning.
In the meantime, for the other moaners out there, take another system and install a package (no name given) from their competition and tell use how wonderful the experience is and post your results here. I'll be back for your comments :)

Edit, for the record, I am currently running Avira Antivir Personal on a Vista system and I like it but it's not a full blown product, running on Vista with vista firewall on, it does the job but if you want the full system which I tested, get ready for firewall fun, it ain't easy.
