Mobile phone error with Android 14 about the Android.process.acore

Hullo community. Recently updated a NOKIA G22 phone to Android 14. Now it is slow and I keep getting message “Android.process.acore”, and it is then hard to use phone. I don’t know if this is a security or performance/compatibility issue. As it may be a virus, I am asking community. Research online gives solutions from Android and Google for certain phones only. Not Nokia phones. I fear that I will soon have to back up and do a factory reset.

A quick search seems to indicate this is an issue with the cache and app data for the OS and/or some apps. There were some indications that the Contacts cache might be corrupted.

Other suggestions were that a shortage of available memory might also be involved. How much free memory do you have on your device?

Have you turned your device off and on again since the update? That can clear some cache issues.

Hullo peterweb.
Thank you for replying to my original post. Sorry I did not responded sooner.
The details you provided were all relevant. But I tried those and other suggestions from websites without success.
The problem is not a security issue, so I will need to follow up with my service provider or NOKIA.
For anyone interested in the general issue, the 3g phone service in Australia is ceasing shortly, and all phones will need to be 4g compatible. Automated compatibility checking services from Australia’s TELSTRA network, the Australian Wireless Providers Association, Nokia, and HMD GLOBAL (Nokia licenced manufacturer) give different answers - the phone is already 4g compatible for voice services, or i can update to 4g by a regular update, which I have not seen to my knowledge, or I can change necessary settings on the phone - settings functions on my phone do not appear to be capable of this. So I will have to follow up those companies. Again, thanks for taking the time to look at this. Nick.

PS to my reply. If it seems odd that I am now saying the problem may be connected to the upcoming change from 3g to 4g services in Australia, you are right. The immediate technical issues seem to be as peterweb says: [quote=“peterweb, post:2, topic:238750” - an issue with the cache and app data for the OS and/or some apps. … the Contacts cache might be corrupted …shortage of available memory might also be involved].
But while the “Android.process.acore” error message started after the Android 14 update to the Nokia G22, it was also a few weeks before the planned date to close down 3g by Australia’s TELSTRA Network (originally late August, now postponed to late October). Another family member’s phone, a Nokia TR 20, showed the same error message 3 or 4 times only, then was ok after a restart, or removing cache from Contacts - fixes noted by peterweb. But it operates on Android 13, and attempts to update the OS do not change it to Android 14. Yet checks on 4g compatibility for the TR 20 also give conflicting answers. With luck, it will all be fixed after further enquiries to the relevant companys.

Well, good luck with the upcoming update. Although I do not see how changing from 3g to 4g would affect the operation of the device. AFAIK the device needs to support the different protocols in its hardware. It is not something that can be upgraded by software or firmware updates. That is why we had to purchase new phones when the carriers here shut down 3g.

Please updated us when you find anything.

Thanks. Will let you know what happens.
Nick
