I've recently canceled the auto-renew for both my Internet Security and 360 subscriptions as I no longer use either. It got me thinking though ... These subscriptions were two of a list of subscriptions that I've stopped simply because I've gotten tired of the shock of annual subscriptions popping up unbudgeted for. I don't always keep track of when things are up for renewal and thus seldom budget for these things when they become due.
One of the subscription services I HAVE kept is my Adobe subscription and this is simply because they offer a monthly payment option where you commit to a 12 month subscription but pay it in monthly installments. If you decide to cancel before the end of the 12 month period, you become liable for a percentage of the total value. This suits my budget style down to the ground as I know that I will be paying x amount every month and can thus cater for it.
Looking at the pricing for 360, I see that it's currently on offer for $60 (well $59.99 but same thing). Now, if I were offered the option of committing to a 12 month subscription at $5 a month, I wouldn't think twice and would ditch my current freeware AV in a flash.
Just a thought.
