My old computer crashed while I was still halfway through my NAV subscription. I have since bought a new computer and would like to set it up with NAV. Since I can no longer use my old computer, does my subscription transfer at no extra charge? It will still only be set up one computer (my new computer). If so, how do I go about installing it?
I originally downloaded NAV off your website and do not have an installation disk. Looking briefly through your website, I did not see where I could redownload it without first being asked to *purchase* a copy.
I think I will need to post this in a number of places.
Symantec is "very forgiving." They allow you a certain number of installations before challenging you because they know that almost everybody needs to occasionally reinstall. Calling Customer Service uses up valuable point which even at outsourced rates is expensive for Symantec and can add up to more than the product earned them, eventually. Customer Service is needed for real issues and Symantec understands this. So both you and Symantec gains from their liberal policy.
When you need to reinstall on another computer, just do it. Either you will be allowed to reinstall the product or you will be told that you have used up all your allowance of installations. Only when you are told your allowance is used up should you call customer service.
This helped me a lot. Have a similar problem, need to transfer an active NAV subscription to a new computer but couldn’t find the right link to download the program again without also having to buy it again. NAV chat told me the same thing, download it, install it, and activate it using my existing product code. I’ll copy the new download to a CD and when my new Dell arrives will install the program I just downloaded from the link you provided and let you know how it goes. Thanks!
I've read some interesting stuff about the recovery partition on Dell computers and the way it is set up that can sometimes generate an error message. You may like to read this easy to digest information just in case.
