Multiple Norton products on one computer at the same time?

I currently have both Norton Internet Security and Norton 360 on the same computer at the same time and I want to know if this is necessary and if not which should I keep.  It is for my home computer and my laptop.

I would say this is highly undesirable since they are likely to intefere with each other and prevent a proper security job from being done.

As to which you keep -- Norton 360 was designed largely for people who want to "fit and forget" and has fewer settings that the user can tweak but both use basically the same engines although with the release of N 360 V6 that might have some newer elements.

N 360 has a number of utilities some of which are already in some versions of Windows but does come with free OnLine BAckup if that is of value to you.

Personally I prefer Norton Internet Security as concentrating on the tasks that are important to me.

When you decide I suggest you let us know which you choose to keep and we can advise you on the best way for you to make the change without damaging what you want to keep.

If you have much subscription time left on either product it could be worth asking the Norton OnLine Support Team via the CHAT route if they can combine the unexpired times into one subscription for you.

But first things first and let us know which you want to keep. As soon as you do that I'll ask a moderator to move your messages to the NIS or the N 360 forums here for better support since this Forum is intended for suggestions on how to improve existing programs.

Thank you for the information.  My internet security expires March 14 and I have turned off the automatic renewal.  My N360 automatically renews in April and I have downloaded it on to my second computer, so I plan to let Norton Internet Security go and keep  N 360.

Sounds good -- don't be surprised if you get nags abuot the expired NIS; if they go on too long contact the Norton OnLine Support Team via CHAT and they can let the database know you are OK!

Hi mwm63,

How did you manage to install NIS and Norton 360 on the same machine?  The installation of one should have automatically removed the other.  What versions of each program do you have installed?

I run both on my multi boot machine, that's one way of installing them on one machine.
