This morning I bought a downloadable version of Nero Burning Rom. I saved it to my "downloads" directory and then launched it ...
As soon as the installer launched I got a pop-up from NIS 2010 - "windows explorer is trying to access the internet using one or more unrecognized modules" the list of modules was very long and included many of the EXE files I had saved to the download directory along with a many instances of: C:\Program files\<name of software>\unwise and C:\Program files\<name of software>\uninstall.exe
I'm guessing all of these programs are trying to phone home ...???
But why?
And... how? Apparently the phone home mechanism is tripped by the installer used by Nero????
This really gives me a headache...
Not surprisingly (?), if I launch the Nero installer directly from the command line instead of via Windows Explorer I get no messages from NIS.
