My Norton says password manager not setup in edge and chrome. Yet it is setup and working in both.
My Norton incorrectly says password manager not setup in edge and chrome
Password manager is supposedly not setup in Edge and Chrome.browsers yet it is working fine. The password manager extension is installed and activated in both browsers. The password manager vault opens fine. Passwords can be entered just fine in both browsers.
If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:

Did you report your concerns via Contact Norton Support
Dude, I don’t care who owns them. Fix the product up already. It’s already caused me much grief It’s been reinstalled many times which is totally absurd. This is the most buggy product I ever seen.
You are a funny guy. Of course I did. Many times. It gets nowhere. I am just told lots of users see the same thing. How about fixing it already? This has been going on for over a year. These false detections of install problems waste your time.
My control panel tells me to setup genie scam protection but it is already setup and I can verify that by going into my Norton account online. Also the protection report keeps telling me it is ready but always says gathering data when I view it.
I have gotton to the point of just not going to the home screen of the Norton UI because it does not give me any valid info and has been going on for a long time. It is very annoying and causes me concern about the underlying antivirus programs.
@robert_scardapane Please contact support since that is the first avenue to getting a ticket started for the developer teams to review. The forums are a peer user entity, we Gurus, are NOT Norton employees, nor, do we have the ability to “fix” any issues directly nor indirectly. We assist here with the knowledge base we have to provide possible solutions. Please work with us to get a solution not against us. We do not take anything nor anyone here as being funny but do take what we do serious enough to donate our time toward the goal of results.
I finally decided to move back onto the current release version to be able to assist with the currents after a year long hiatus. This is what Norton detects regarding PWM and browsers on this system. Opera GX has been my default browser for a very long time and isn’t being detected. Edge IS detected but none of the others as shown in bjm’s screenshot are listed. Definitely a differential bug in the programming between Window 10 and Windows 11.
And this is my quarrel with the vendor. Why make it so hard to open a case for support? I don’t see a way I can do that. I can start a chat but that is not exactly the same as a case. Why not provide a way to raise a case for support where you can attach screenshots. Maybe even come up with a data collection tool.
This whole area is a real mess in this product. So on one of windows 11 systems My Norton says that the password manager extension is not installed in edge and chrome yet it is and works just fine in both. That just started happening out of the blue. It also complains that norton safe web is not installed in norton private browser yet there is no extension for it to install. Total mess. Leads to false positives and Norton thinking you have not completed your setup. It really should be fixed but they don’t provide a way to report anything except through the community. I just chatted with support and they told me to use the community! LOL, Then the person wanted to connect and seemed to have trouble navigating my system. The person just disconnected with no further comment. This is absolutely terrible support.
I agree with you completely. It’s really a bad look for them. It also wastes your time. You think there is something to fix and there may not be (or maybe there is) but you are not sure if the dashboard is telling you rubbish. That sort of thing should be accurate.
Edge shows in my Norton UI with the PWM extension installed, Opera GX although being Chromium based does NOT and is the default browser on my W10 machine. I see the exact same on my Windows 11 Pro laptop as well. I think the coding in the program itself only detects main stream browsers by default. Its certainly not hooking into Windows for what the default browser being used is but rather what Microsoft wants users to use. That is just so ignorant its not even real.
Edited:
Just noticed these two settings returned to default, most likely after the last Windows Updates and neglected to check. Check yours. I disabled them both and will do a system restart to see if the Norton UI changes and post back.
Well, well, well. Edge STILL shows in the Norton UI as the default browser when its not even with the Windows settings unchecked. And the two settings I unchecked in the second screenshot? Well they returned to a checked state on their own accord. Makes me wonder if this is a Norton problem or Microsoft being a monopoly issue. I’m leaning toward the latter being the primary issue and a bit of both maybe.
Sure. The problem is that I tried to ask support. They keep saying to post in the community forum. So this goes nowhere. Honestly I would rather not post anything here as I don’t think it’s an issue that anyone can solve unless they know the internals of the Norton product. Why not provide a way to open a case with all the details about the problem including screenshots. If more details are needed like logs that could be provided as well.
Norton Private Browser - Chromium based, its detected
FireFox - Non Chromium, Ghecko based, its detected
Chrome - Of course its Chromium and detected
Edge - Chromium based, its detected Opera GX - Chromium based, NOT DETECTED BEING BLOCKED
Support cases created on multiple occasions zero responses, the product has not changed.
