Get Norton Security Suite with Comcast. Have recently had bad experience with MyStart IndrediBar from the people who also bring us Incredimail. Have never been let down by Norton until I accidentally installed this malware from a fake download site. Don't understand why Norton doesn't warn about and can't remove this browser-related malware.

Hi rducker,
The MyStartIndrediBar as you relieze is something you installed yourself. It does not contain any malware ( as such) and in most circles is considered a PUP - "potentially unwanted program". Since you eleected to installit and it is not a virus/malware as such - Norton does not detect it, nor interfer with the installation.
The following link from quietman7, explains how you got it and gives many suggestions to remove it - a lot more clearly andin depth than I could ever provide the information. I suggest it follow through his suggestions:
yank - I understand your points which is what the persons who authored the software would also say. I say their methods are not clear, ethical or above board and their software takes over all your browsers and persists even after you uninstall all the components listed in control panel. So, I understand your points but I highly disagree.
Thanks much for your advice. I tried several programs (after trying Norton) that promised to remove IncrediBar but did not (not including the one you mentioned). I was able to restore Windows to a point several days ago which worked except for Chrome (again that's odd) which I reinstalled and has been fine so far.
People are saying here that I accepted the agreement which was hidden within a download for software which I never received. Anyway, Norton targets Alexa but leaves this one operate without even a warning. I guess I have several issue with what happened.
