Hello,

I'm using Norton 360 v2 and its Idenity Safe Feature  (I bet this is also a problem is NIS 2008.)

I'm wondering if you can point me to the answer to this Norton 360 v2 password manager question.

There are a few websites that the password manager fills in my information (name and email address) on sites that have fields where I can select from a stored list of people to send information to, but every time the password manager puts my information in all of the fields (and will actually over-write what I put in). The only way I can get it to stop doing that is to log out of the password manager, but I need to log into the site to access my account and peoples names and email addresses. So, I need to login to the password manager to log into the site, then turn the password manager off and refresh the webpage. A bit frustrating.

What even more frustrating is that in order to get to the option to log out of the password manager, I have to scroll down all of my passwords to get to that option. It would be nice if the first option under the explorer "Log Ins" option in the Norton bar would be to log in, log out, manage logins, and my norton account, instead of being at the end of the password list.

Here's one of the sites that this is happening to me at:

http://www.jacquielawson.com/    (w w w . j a c q u i e l a w s o n . c o m)

You will see that there is a logon section. After you log on and chose to send a card, all of the fields that appear so you can select people from your stored list of sendees is filled in with my name and email address.

This occurs with other websites with similar features (a login required, plus capability to input other users' email addresses and names or other input fields on forms).

If there is no work around, maybe this is something that Symantec can easily fix and provide as an update?

Dear Abhay, the problem is solved for the NIS customers. When will it be solved for N360 customers? This bug is actually annoying enough to stop using the product completely.

We are working on a schedule for the patch for N360. Once we know the exact date we would let you know. Thanks for your patience.

The auto-fill problem makes it impossible to use Identity Safe.  Is there a way to disable auto-fill but still use auto logins?

Hi filbert,

The option to disable auto-fill for individual sites while still allowing auto login is available in NIS 2009 and will be available in N360 v3.0. Unfortunately, there aren’t any workarounds available in N360 v2.0 to achieve the same effect. If auto-fill is making it difficult to use certain sites, I recommend not storing logins for those sites.

Thanks for the suggestion jlatino0.  I’m not sure but I think autofill works on any website not just the ones I have logged in. It has trashed so many of my daughter’s college applications that I we have to exit identity safe whenever she starts to work on one.  It sure makes me regret switching from Internet Security and Systemworks. Is there any timetable to fix this problem?

It is now several months without a fix to this problem.  Can someone from Symantec provide a realistic date for the patch? If not, would Symantec be willing to transfer my subscription to a combination of Internet Security and Systemworks?  There does not seem to be any excuse for such a delay.

You are absolutely right Filbert. Either that or a goodbye to Norton products alltogether.

It is even more worse when you think about it that other clients of Norton ARE getting a better version of identity safe. What is wrong with N360-users? What have we done wrong to deserve this kind of behaviour from Norton? Why can't we get a solution?

dasage,

We are aware of this problem. As you pointed out, this problem exists in NIS 2008 as well. Please see my detailed reply to a similar question in another thread.

We do not have an ETA on when this problem will be fixed via LiveUpdate. As soon as we have more information, we will update the thread with it.

Thanks.
