N360 blocking Vivaldi browser

Hello,

 For some reason N360 22.22.1.58 won't allow Vivaldi to launch. This is occurring with multiple version of Vivaldi including current version. Vivaldi appears briefly in task manager process list then its killed.

This is undoubtedly N360 causing the issue. If I uninstall N360, Vivaldi launches.  If I install N360 and rename the Vivaldi executable, Vivaldi launches.  Rename the exe back to Vivaldi.exe  No Dice.

I have uninstalled/installed/ N360 multiple times using the removal tool. I have uninstalled/reinstalled versions of Vivaldi.

I have checked  N360's history and quarantine list and nothing is there except Vivaldi allowed.

I have reset the N360 firewall

I have excluded the Vivaldi folder and .exe from scans and sonar etc. Nothing allows Vivaldi to launch except renaming the exe or ditching Norton.

Is there anything I've overlooked? and if not, why is N360 behaving this way concerning  Vivaldi

Thanks to all who reply.

I apologize for my very late reply.

Unfortunately Revo did not remedy the situation. I still can't run Vivaldi unless I rename it. One curious thing I did discover is that if I remove N360 and Vivaldi, restart  then reinstall both N360 & Vivaldi ---Vivaldi will run correctly until the next reboot. After the reboot Vivaldi is blocked.

Perhaps Revo can do a better job of removal.

Curious, did Revo do a better job of removal?

You may check for remnants:

You may check Task Scheduler for Norton 360 & Remediation tasks

Maybe, run registry cleaner tool for example: CCleaner.
FWIW ~ I've run CCleaner - Registry Cleaner after R&R tool -> Remove Only.   Just me.

I believe some aspects of N360 are remaining even after running the removal/reinstall tool. I don't know why Vivaldi is being flagged by N360 but my next step is to remove N360 with the removal tool. Install Revo uninstaller and then install and remove N360 with Revo. Perhaps Revo can do a better job of removal.

I did a search of the history for "Vivaldi" and basically found only

I can't determine why N360 is blocking Vivaldi on this system.

Does Norton History offer any clue?

@bjm_

  Sorry about my late reply. I actually visited that forum before heading here. Nothing helped.

I manually combed through every file/folder and the registry and removed every instance of the string "vivaldi"  and still no good.

What's very puzzling is that I have a similarly configured system that has up to date N360 and Vivaldi working fine. I can't determine why N360 is blocking Vivaldi on this system.

I have been using Norton products for quite some time and remember a utility that was only an uninstaller. I believe it worked quite well. Anyone know if it still exists or has it been deemed obsolete.

That older tool has been incorporated into the current Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool as the Advanced Options > Remove Only.

I'm curious to learn why Vivaldi runs okay without Norton.
I'm curious to learn why Norton is blocking your Vivaldi.

When you remove Vivaldi for reinstall.  Do you also refresh/remove Vivaldi profile?

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried the "advanced--> remove only" option with no difference. I will try your other suggestions although I have had mixed experiences with registry cleaners.

I do appreciate the efforts made in trying to resolve this problem.

@bjm_ thank you for testing

Does anyone know of a more thorough utility than the "Remove and Reinstall tool"?  There have been occasions when my settings were still in effect after I used the tool.

Something in N360 is not allowing the executable named vivaldi.exe to run and I want to be able to completely purge the product including any registry entries before I reinstall. Thanks
