N360 cannot connect to server

2 days ago I installed a new motherboard in my PC - Asus Maximus 8 Hero.  The hardware install went better then I expected.  There's usually a prob somewhere that takes forever to fix, but this time every thing went fine.  I then installed Windows 10 64 bit retail from a USB stick - formatted the HD.  I previously had an OEM version of Windows 10.  So far so good.  I installed the drivers from the motherboard disk - still OK.  Then before I installed anything else I decided to reinstall N360.  This is where the problems started.  I logged into my Norton account using IE11 - no problems.  Devices listed my phone and windows10 pc and I still had a key left.  I have the multi-device version with 3 keys total.  Clicked on download and it downloaded and installed on my PC no problems.  But - when I clicked on sign in or activate it would bring up a new window connecting to server, then I get unexpected error has occurred.  The vault doesn't work either.  My subscription is valid until July 2016.  I uninstalled it and tried again.  I deleted my pc device from my account through IE11 and tried again - same error.  Used the Norton removal tool too.  Then started chat support - 2 hours later and he rebooted my pc into safe mode - oops - no internet connection.  Some error saying it couldn't start get on app with build in admin account.  Tried rebooting - only boots to safe mode.  Had to close the chat window to reboot normally.  That was yesterday.  Today I started chat support again - this time 4 hours later and 3 different people and they even moved me to level 2 support - and it's still not fixed.  They said to try connecting again in 24 hours and that they will ring me.

What the hell is going on??!!  I've never had this much trouble with N360 before.  I've used it ever since version 1.  What could possibly be the problem???
