N360 Premier & LibreOffice Bug?

System Details
Win 8 Pro - fully undated
Hp DM1 - AMD E-350 - 8 GB Ram
N360 Premier - Fully updated
LibreOffice 4.0

Bug found when LibreOffice 4.0 is installed. I've already notified the LibreOffice programmers, and instead of retyping the situation, I ran both MBAM & SuperANTIVIRUS to see whether I was infected, causing the redirects. Nothing found with either program. I thought I would just copy the text out of the email sent to LibreOffice.

"I’ve been using LibreOffice for quite a while and love it, save for a problem I found today. I went down to the task bar to right click on the Norton icon to check to see if a new version was available. Instead of a browser window coming up, LibreOffice Writer started up and let me know I had the most recent update.

Why would LO Writer associate itself when calling up a web page?

I uninstalled LO and tried the same procedure again and an IE 10 web page came up, again telling me I had the most recent version. I installed LO once again, and opened up the N360 full screen which has the four panels. Clicked on the Feedback link, and once again a LO Writer page came up, instead of a browser page. Same thing happened when clicking on the Norton Studio link.

So, what’s the fix to stop LO from associating with links embedded in the N360 software?"

Now, my comments to the N360 programmers. Why does N360 allow redirects to your links? Why are those links locked only to be accessed by a browser.

It's incorrectly intercepting calls to .htm and .html files.  I have seen the same thing happen with Notepad ++ and another editor.

You need to uncheck the options to associate it with those filetypes or change them through windows using:

Start > default programs > set associations

(Thats for windows 7 that has a start button)

I tried to look for directions at the Libra office site but they have a bad security certificate and I didn't want to continue.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry it took so long to respond. You were right. I had uninstalled LibreOffice and installed OpenOffice and the same thing happened. One file association for OO Writer as for .html. Changed that to IE and every link now in N360 opens up in IE10.

What's a bit unnerving though is that N360 allowed the change in file association ... for both of those office programs.
