We have 2 computers. They both run WinXp home xp3. Both I believe were running N360 v6.4.1.14.
One computer has stopped showing anything on the screen (I'm thinking perhaps it's the CPU) {ref: dead computer}.
I took the IDE hard drive from the dead computer and put it as a slave in the active computer (both computers differ in hardware so setting the dead computers HD as master will not work).
My intent would be to pull the more updated profile from the slave drive using the current active computer. I am not sure where I would instruct N360 to look for such information as it is asking me where to import the profile from and that it be in a csv, dat or npm format.
Any help would of course greatly appreciated and I'd be happy to listen to any and all of the 'you should have, you could have's' after as I don't think it will be of any aid at this point in time (said while kicking myself for not having done a more recent backup of data...Things were going so well...until they weren't :)).
As always thank you for your time, patience and assistance.
Not sure I am following you - but are you basically trying to retrieve your ID safe data?
Please be advised the numbers behind the N 360_ may be slightly different. (In your case I would imagine they would be 6.4.1.14)
Also the S-1-5-21 is a random generated number and the ending of it may be different from what I have shown below. (I am not sure this folder exsists in XP as it does in the Vista/Win 7 path which I have listed for reference only in case someone else needs to use this suggestion in another operating system)
Also, please make sure you are logged out of your Vault before copying the folder to the new folder location. If you do not log out - the information you seek cannot be copied and it will throw an error.
Conversly, when you try to Import, you must be logged into the Vault in order to see the Import function.
XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\N360_20.1.0.24\IdentitySafeDataStore
The Program Data Folder may be hidden in windows 7. so first choose Computer -> organize -> folder and search options -> view -> show hidden files and folders -> apply
1. Copy the IdentitySafeDataStore folder to a new folder in a convenient location on your computer. 2. In the Identity Safe Settings Window select Import Data > Configure [+] 3. In the Import Identity Safe Data window, 'Browse' to the new folder you just created in step 1 4. Double click the folder to open it and select the file IDDStore2 > Open. 5 .Under 'While importing data', select 'Merge with existing data' and click OK. You may be prompted to enter the password for the old data. 6. If you have changed any login credentials for a particular site since the older data was created, you will be presented with a Data Conflict window. Select which login version you wish to keep and click OK. 7. OK your way out and check that the merged logins have been added and are working.
Those are the usual instructions I give - not sure if they will work for you, but you might be able to locate the file with the info and work from there.
Windows XP instructions followed and led me to the solution. I would probably never found the native locaiton of where this version of IDD was kept or how to properly import to another computers primary drive without errors! I so much expected to run into errors or even have the IDD p/w change by importing from a different HDD, none of that occured so thank you Norton and YANK!!
The issue was that our vault is only offline and had gone through some time without being updated. The extra advice as to how to avoid errors as well as the exact location was perfect.
You are very welcome and I am glad all ended well for you.
Just for others who may search and find this solution, please remember it only applies to Local Vaults. If you have an Online Vault your ID Safe info will not be located on your system, unless you Exported it to somewhere else on your system.
