NAV 2011 silent install?

I am trying to figure out how to do network deployments of Norton Antivirus 2011 CTO System Builder edition, but I cannot find any way to do any sort of silent install. I had similar trouble with 2010 but at that time my company just decided not to use the product. I was able to do silent installs of 2009 without product key in the past. We've also sent emails to the OEM division but we haven't gotten a response yet.

Where can I find a method to do a silent/keyless install of Norton Antivirus 2011 CTO System Builder edition?

Primary target OSes will be Windows 7 32bit and 64 bit, on systems without internet access at the time of installation.

Thanks

Perhaps you need the Symantec Endpoint versions since tehy may be intended for silent installation.

For corporate edition products please visit the STN forums at their new location:  http://www.symantec.com/connect/

I believe they start with a relatively small number of seats but you'll find details there.

I'm not saying you cannot do it as you want with that particular edition .....

We are in the OEM Channel, these are not for corporate use. We sent another email to Tech Partner, so maybe we will get a resolution that way but last time we sent an email there we did not get a response. Currently we are doing a drop-in-box so systems are not being shipped with Symantec product on the desktop on first boot. :frowning:

Tripredacus, Where did you purchase the Norton product(s)? Different types of layouts support different command line switches. Are these retail versions of Norton, or were they purchased via Symantec’s System Builder program? Also, can you describe how you are supplying the product key to the user? Are you supplying the CD with the DRM/Activation label for them to type in after they complete OOBE (15 day activation grace period after OOBE)? If you are using the software from the System Builder program, those should support the /qn (totally silent), or the /qr (progress bar only) install switches. If you are using a retail layout, then I’m told the silent install switches are not supported in 2011 retail versions.

/qr works fine. Where can I find information about this “15 day grace period” and the documentation for these two switches?

Ignore previous post. I understand that during the “grace period for activation” the product runs as a trial. I’ve tested and confirmed no problem activating the product after the grace period expires.
