NAV 2013 and Windows 7 32bit Bug

Hello. I work with a computer repair shop located in northeast Nebraska and I seem to have discovered a bug regarding Norton Antivirus 2013 and Windows 7 32bit. Specifically, after installing NAV 2013 on a computer with Windows 7 32bit, after roughly 10-20 seconds of the main NAV window loading, a message will pop up saying "Symantec Service Framework has stopped working." This is 100% reproducable on a second computer that is running Windows 7 32bit. The following have been run at least 5x each:

Norton Removal Tool

Norton Remove and Reinstall

Norton Power Eraser

Nothing will fix the issue and Power Eraser says that no risks were found. Only when I installed NAV 2013 on another computer with Windows 7 32bit, and had the same issue, did I think that this was a bug. I'm also already chatted with Tech Support and it puzzled them as well.

Hi hartelco,

Thanks for the headsup and the information - I will pass it on to Norton staff and reference you post so they can reply back.

Sorry but I have installed the product on numerous systems running windows 7 32bit without any problems.

My wifes system is like that and it's been working fine for months.

You sure there are no other real time scanners, trials, or other AV's causing a conflict?

Dave

Found out the cause to be graphics card related. The 2 computers in question are running Intel HD graphics and had an older driver installed. Installed the latest driver available, rebooted the computers, and the crashes did not reoccur. Still odd that that would trigger a crash.

I do computer support over on Compuserve and it's amazing how many problems get resolved by updating the video drivers .... things that have no connection to graphics that you can think of!
