Is it possible to post a screenshot.?
Do you have any other security software installed that might be in the way?
How do I post a screenshot? It will only allow me to post a URL for an image, and I have no option to attach a file.
Can you tell us the exact text of the error message and error code if any? What is the OS you are using? Have you run Norton Removal Tool before installing the 2009 version? Can you tell me the stage at which you receive the installation error?
Also please browse to the location C:\Documents and Settings\All User\Application Data\Norton Installer\Logs in XP or
Seems as though I had a corrupted download. I downloaded the trial again and it installed this time.
Thanks for the help.
Just for my database, how did you download? Do you have some special downloader such as the minidownloader used by IE7Pro or Firefox downloader or did you just use the standard IE7 downloading built in?
Just the standard IE7. Not really sure what happened. I'm really trying to remember if I downloaded it directly from Symantec or not the first time.
Was/is the trial available through any other sites?
You can always find other sites to download things. But when it comes to security always, always only download from that manufacturer site.
I wasn't querying about the site - what Diesel said is an absolute: don't download from other sites.
The reason for my question is that I've been using IE7Pro to handle my downloads and have gotten about 10% corrupt downloads from Symantec. It's most likely either Symantec or it's my downloader. Since you had a corrupt download and have confirmed that it wasn't while using IE7Pro, that tends to support my assumption that Symantec is having server problems.
Free Download Manager is a great downloader. I use it all the time for big downloads. I havr IE7Pro plugin for IE but I never use IE. I always and only use Firefox.
Download accelrators and managers often cause a slight bit of corruption, which is fine for video and pictures, but intolerable for programs.
