NAV v16.7 vs Nav 2009?

What is the difference between NAV v16.7 and 2009?  The use of version numbers is confusing!

Norton 2009 Products = Version 16.0.0.0, e.g. 16.5.0.134/5.

Yes, it's just like cinek said :-) What may have confused you is that the 16.7 patch was released - then withdrawn. You can read more about said patch over here and here.

For now, the current official version is 16.5.

The 16.7 patch was an attempt made by norton a week or two ago to make the 2009 norton products compatible with Windows 7 as well as fix some other very minor problems. It has been called by norton the "compatibility patch".

However, within a few days of release users flouded these forums with complaints about the new patch causing problems so norton has since stopped distribution and says that they will begin to redistribute the patch once they are able to correct said problems. There were of course many users who were able to receive the 16.7 patch and experience no problems whatsoever.

While the patch was being distributed there was a detailed explanation of what it did for the end user at the top of the forums. It has since been taken down. It will likely be readded once 16.7 is released again.

Norton releases a new patch/build of their products every couple of months usually to fix reported problems, make their products compatible with new programs, and occassionally to add new features mid-year. You may recall how norton safeweb was added to the norton products with the 16.5 patch back in the 1st-2nd quarter of this year.

Thanks all!  That clears things up for me.

Thanks again
