This morning I realised my email account had been compromised, I had “failed” emails to contacts that I had never sent (I warned family and friends with a quick call not to open any email from me). I checked to see the “logging on” records and someone from “Belarus” (Eastern Europe) on a mobile was running my email in the morning). I couldn’t see anything else altered until I looked at the “draught” folder in my email account and noticed that a few of the headers had been changed to just the letters “nbsp”. Half an hour later 2/3rds of the draughts had a name change to “nbsp” and the contents of the draught erased. I ran Norton power eraser and found nothing – the full system scan only found tracking cookies. I searched online and one website called this a “doomsday tag”. I changed my email password etc – but I am still concerned as there had definitely been a security breech even though I always have Norton on and try to be careful about the sites I use and what I download and I do not open emails unless I know who they are from.
How do I clean this virus from my computer/email account if Norton hasn’t recognised it?
