A neighbors unsecured wireless N router recently started appearing in my Network Security Map (NIS 2011 - Settings – Network Settings – Trust Control: Configure – [my wireless network]). NIS 2011 says the device is "offline" and it does not have an IP assigned to it. My wireless N network is using WPA2 and MAC address filtering which would prevent it from actually joining my network. I've never joined my neighbors network.
My best guess is that there is a programming issue with NIS 2011 which is causing my neighbors router to appear in the Network Security Map. NIS 2011 automatically assigned the device the router icon. I think NIS 2011 did that because of the wireless network name ("Netgear") and because NIS 2011 can tell the adapter is made by Netgear.
Anyone else seeing this? I don’t like the fact that it is appearing.
Thanks,
Willo
