Hi all,
For a couple of days I get messages from Norton that reports the error 3048.3 and suggest me to open the support website to download Norton Power Eraser and run it to solve a problem that Norton has detected but is not able to resolve.
Since I have read in many posts, some users have had problems with NPE which deleted system files recognized as virus while they were just false positives, I have a bit of fear to run it.
I ask you if it's better to not use NPE, maybe just uninstall NIS 2013 with NRT and reinstall it again.
Thank you for any suggestions.

The same thing has happened again today and I do not know how to fix it.
At this point I don't know if the problem is really due to a malware or to another existing issue in Norton Internet Security 2013, in addition to those already known.
Can someone help me solve this please?
Thank in advance for any help.
Sandro
If you are going to reinstall the program please use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool
http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20110217171332EN
It will allow you to save your settings and activate itself by checking in with the Norton server.
You might also download, install, update and run either Malwarebytes free scanner
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
or the one from SuperAntiSpyware
http://superantispyware.com/
both are Norton compatible and can be kept on the desktop for use as second opinion scanners.
Hope this helps
Thank you Dick for your reply and suggestions,
For a couple of days, I am no longer getting alerts from Norton Autofix.
I'm monitoring the situation, apparently it seems that now everything is working properly.
If the problem persists, I will run the NRnR already downloaded by clicking on the link you mentioned in your reply.

Have a look at this link:
http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Is-this-a-virus-RIKVM-38F51D56-SYS/m-p/831772#M221466
If Norton flags up the file "rikvm_38f51d56.sys" as the cause of the problem, then this is a false positive. The file is a genuine Cyberlink PowerDVD10 system file, and Cyberlink have supposedly reported the issue to Norton. Not sure if Norton have done anything about it yet (I suspect not!)
Hi n2009user27,
I have no Cyberlink software installed on my PC and I've never used it.
I am no longer getting alerts from Norton Autofix for 6 days and now the computer is working properly.
Thanks anyway for your suggestion.
