Need help getting rid of Backup folder on hard drive

Hi,

I've recently installed Norton 360 Version 3 and am running into all sorts of problems. Can someone help me get rid of a Norton Backup file on my C: Drive?  I've got online storage and Norton 360 has backed up to this OK, the only thing is that it also backed up to my hard disk and it's eating up my hard disk space.  I contacted Symantec only to be told that if I backed up to online storage that it wouldn't have backed up to my hard disk.

I found a Norton Backup folder on C: which is over 7G.  I rang Symantec back only to be told to delete the file and if this happened again to ring Symantec back.  Have tried to delete, move, cut, you name it, I've tried it, but I can't seem to get rid of it.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi DebW,

Welcome to Norton Community!

You can review what you have previously backed up and delete files that you no longer need. This will free up storage space for subsequent backups. If you are using Norton 360 3.0, go to "Manage Backup Sets" in Settings, click on the "Where" tab.  Then select the destination - where the backup has been stored and click on the "delete files" link.  This will pop up a browser that will let you review what you have backed up and select files to be deleted.  When you delete the files, storage will be freed up for re-use. In order to stop it from re-appearing again, you have to change the Backup Schedule. Go to "When" tab, and change the status to "Manual" or disable it. You can enable it and run Backup whenever you need. When the Automatic Schedule is changed, the Norton 360 will stop backing up files to your internal harddrive and so the backup file size won't increase unless you run it manually. Alternatively, you can directly go and search for the folder N360_BACKUP and delete the subs-folders inside it.

Hi Yogesh,

Thanks for the welcome and replying so quickly.  Have tried what you suggested but no luck. When I click my C: Drive icon under the Where Tab it says "No Backups were found on the selected destination".  The path for the folder I want to delete is as follows: "C:\Program Data\Norton\{0c55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\Norton\Backup\0".  This "0" subfolder contains this huge backup file that is over 7GB.  Does this help??

Have set my Backup Schedule to Manual to try and stop this file from getting any bigger.

What happens when you try to delete the Backup file/folder?

If you are getting "Access Denied" message, it can be due to Norton Tamper Protection which is protecting all Norton related files. You can disable the Norton Tamper Protection(Go to Settings, under Quick Controls, uncheck Norton Tamper Protection) temporarily and then delete the file/folder.
