Issue abstract: Having trouble with Norton Safe Search with Norton 360 on Windows 10. Getting weird search results
Detailed description: Use Norton Safe Search extension on Google Chrome and I’m getting weird search results and they seem to be the same results each time I search something different.
Product & version number: Norton 360 (Norton Application Version 25.6.10221 - build 25.6.10221.939) on Windows 10. Norton Safe Search Extension (ver. 3.24.0.5)
OS details: Windows 10
I didn’t notice it yesterday but today when I was using Chrome to search something. My Norton safe search look normal but when I started scroll down, it started showing results for Youtube, yahoo, Google images, Reddit, etc. So, I went back up to the search bar and search something else and it fresh but it gave me also the same results. So, I try it again, I search something different and get new results but nothing close to what I research. I’m not sure if it has to do with the safe search plugin on Chrome, the current Norton 360 version, or if something on my computer that cause it but I’m not getting normal results. I did try uninstall and reinstalling Norton Safe Search extension for Chrome but I have the same issue. I did notice if I do a couple of search one or two of them turn out fine but when after a while, the issue returns.
Can anyone please advice me? Thanks
Here some screenshots of my searches to show you what I mean by weird results:
Norton Safe Search browser extension is not connected/related to Norton 360.
Maybe, running Incognito (2) with an ad blocker is causal.
Does reported issue present with new default Chrome profile with just Norton Safe Search extension?
Hi bjm,
Thanks for the reply. I turned off the ad blocker on Norton Safe search and try doing another search and it still have the same problem. I’m not sure what causing the problem. I do have the latest version of chrome but I’m not sure if that what causing the issue or not.
I have another computer (that also use windows 10), has the latest chrome update and uses the same ad blocker and it not having the same issue. The only difference is that computer is using Norton 360 version (25.6.10221 - build 25.6.10221.0). So, that why I thought it had to do with Norton 360 version.
Hi bjm,
Sorry for the late reply. That would make sense. It just strange how to working on my one computer and different on my other computer. I did some more research/test since my last reply to you and I found the issue still happens on the first search (with ad blocker off) but when I hit enter again. Then the search work like it normal did. I would then go back to the search bar on norton safe search, searching something else and it would show results as normal. So, I not sure why but turning ad blocker off and doing a search after the first search. It starts to work again.
Hi peterweb,
Thank you for the reply. Sorry for the late reply. I have been trying different things since yesterday to see what causing the problem. I try doing searches in normal chrome instead of incognito mode and it seems to be doing the same things. However, I did find (which I posted to bjm) if I do a first search it gives me weird results but if I do searches after that then they are normal again (this is with ad blocker off). So, I not sure why it still happen.
I did try some other things today, like clearing chrome cached files/images and clearing cookies/site settings and seeing if that helps but it still happens. I even clear all my chrome history and that didn’t help. So, I not sure what else can be done to possible fix this.
Also as an update: My other computer update today with the latest Norton version. So, it’s Norton version, chrome browser version and ad blocker version match the same as the one on my computer (that has the issue) and it didn’t have the same problem. I can search on it and the search come up normal. So, I not sure what the difference can be that causing the issue on my one computer and not on my other one.
I have the same problem with Norton Safe Search getting the same unrelated search results. Turning off the ad blocker hasn’t helped.
Any help will be appreciated.

Have you tested new default browser profile with only Norton Safe Search extension?
UPDATE:
Hi, I wanted to give a update to everyone evolved with this topic. I wanted to let everyone know that the problem for me as been resolved.
I trying again tonight and the first search work great. I got off chrome and try searching again and it work. I tried it again 5 minutes later and it worked. I check some other things out since the problem stopped for me and notices, the Adblocker extension (for Chrome), Google Chrome browser and my Norton version got updated. So, I not sure which update fix the issue but the problem for me is gone.
So, my suggestion for anyone still having issues is to check and see if you have any updates for Google Chrome, Adblock extension and/or Norton 360 and updates them. Updated all three seem to fix the problem for me.
Thanks
And special thanks to @bjm and @peterweb for your help and suggestions to try to resolve my issue.
