Need to develop Disaster Recovery plan using Backup files. If possible

End of may I had HD crash. I made the mistake of assuming my N360 backup files that were saved on external HD would save the day.

NOT so much.

I could not boot the PC to a N360 state to allow me to restore what I thought were backup files. I discovered I had to spend almost 30 hours installing and doing numerous updates to all my programs as my so-called backup really only had a small portion of my HD files available to restore.

Sooo what I want to do is to develop a disaster recovery plan that would allow me to boot to a CD/DVD and then using external HD, restore my computer to the state it was in when the last backup was don.

Is this possible using N360?  If so how?   If not, what good is the backup feature in N360 if you can't restore all your files back to your HD?

My PC is Acer laptop, Vista 32 bit. Internal HD in two partitions of 240GB ea with about  40GB of files and programs on each partition. I have an external HD with 120GB capacity and another with 300GB capacity available that connect via USB.
