Network Internet traffic gauge monitor

Morning Forum –  I’ve run a forum search (limited to responses/posts within the last 1 year) on “bandwidth monitoring” – but didn’t see anything I thought actually on point.  FWIW, I have Norton 360 & Norton Utilities v15 installed on two Windows 7 machines and one laptop.  I’m looking to make an “intelligent” choice/decision about future internet service and access.  To do so, I’d like to get some idea of my “typical” or average monthly home (currently a DSL line feeding into a Netgear DGN2000 combo wifi router/ADSL modem) internet usage actually is.

I.e. how many mega bytes or gigabits of data am I burning through on a monthly basis between my Home Office desktop, the iPad, a laptop and Sonos wifi music system.  Do I stay with the hard landline DSL service; or should I consider moving everything over to a wireless cellphone, and probably data limited plan?

So, a couple of questions.  I see Norton 360 has a “Check Network Security Map” etc., but does it offer something like a “montor network (in this case,  router traffic) function that could give one daily, or weekly or monthly traffic loads?  I don’t see anything in the Norton Utilities tool box that looks relevant to trying to track & quantify net usage.

A couple of world wide web searchs with Google have given me a list of other possible 3rd party programs/utilities that might fill the bill, but I’ve no personal experience with any of them, such as i.e.

Network Monitoring Apps:

-     NetWorx

-     NetLimiter

-     Bitmeter II

-     BitMeter OS (PCWorld recomendation)

-     NetSpeedMonitor

-     PRTG

-     Wireless Network Watcher

It would be nice if Norton, either as a part of it’s Internet Security package (Norton 360) or the Norton Utilities program offered a feature like this. . . . . or maybe Norton already does this, and I’ve just been too thick to figure out how to access the information.

Any help, pointers or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Norton doesn't but your router does if you are using Netgear Genie. It may require a firmware update but your router is supported so say Netgear.
