Since installing the latest Norton 360 patch update (I am now running v.24.6.9241.851), the computers on my Private network will only connect to each other if I disable Norton Smart Firewall. This is completely unacceptable but I need a solution that does not involve disabling the firewall.

Have you restarted your computer since installing the 360 update? Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.
Even though the updates say you do not need to restart, sometimes there are still updates available for the new version that you need to run LiveUpdate again and restart again.
