If you visit this forum on a regular basis, and Internet Explorer is your browser of choice, then no doubt you'll have Internet Explorer set to use 'Compatibility View' when displaying the Norton Community forum pages in order to ensure that the forum pages render properly.
With this new forum update, however, it appears that using 'Compatibility View' is no longer necessary. So, if you are having issues with forum page rendering, check your Internet Explorer's 'Compatibility View' setting for the 'norton.com' site; if it's turned ON then turn if OFF. Under Internet Explorer 9, browsing this forum is much better with 'Compatibility View' turned OFF.
At the time of this post Forum web pages are loading very slowly and I am still having problems copying/pasting.
Last night was much better, though inconsistent at times.
Anyone else experiencing these issues? Is there an idea when things will be ironed out?
TIA,
Atomic_Blast :)
Hi,
No quotes, no promises but I'd be very surprised if the team didn't have a few things up their collective sleeves, other than their arms, to try next week to see if they can fill in the potholes and make this information highway a speedway again. The current cart path has it's moments but . . .
Since I have turned off the compatibility mode in IE 8 and xp pro, the pages have been loading just as quick as they used to. I have also just noticed that the reply box is not jumping as I am typing this and the autosaved is turned on. I have also noticed that the autosave keeps on updating the time of the autosave. I believe that the updating of the time has stopped the jumping up and down of this posting. Yaahoo !!!!

Thanks for confirming that the earlier suggestion to turn OFF Internet Explorer's 'Compatibility' view/mode setting for this Norton forum site has improved your Norton forum browsing experience under Internet Explorer 8.
I can't help but wonder why the changes were introduced. If it was to improve performance, why we were not told. If it was to look better then ... ho hum.. this is a discussion forum.
Or am I being a bit ....
Maybe I do not want anyone to respond to this post. ;-)
Copy paste is pure hell that crashes the editor ... unless you pass the copy through notepad.
It used to this mainly if you copied a Subject from a message or a Message Listing because these contain massive formating that is local to the system but now it's happening to me with text from within a message body.
See those vertical lines -- that's the system struggling to bring in the copy.
It freezes effectively doing that although Task Manager will end it.

A closer look at your screenshot shows that 'Compatibility View' is turned on. Can you please turn this off and re-test to see if this resolves the copy and paste issue? Sorry, I'd test this myself but I don't have IE8 installed on any of my machines.

I am having no problems whatsoever copy/paste in IE 9. I can do it Ctrl+C/V or via a highlight, right click drop down menu COPY and the dropdown PASTE.
Compatability mode does not make a difference when going to /from a link, copying or pasting, or whatever.
Going from post to post or to another board via the Norton Community link is also very slow.
I guess I'll be forced to accept MS's latest invitation to upgrade to IE 9 but I hate the very slim (vertically) TABs ... I have IE 9 on my WIN 7 64 bit test beds ...
