I had about 100+ days left on my NIS 09 subscription. For some reason, maybe a failed product update via live update screwed up my program where I could not download updated definition files. So, I decided to download Norton Removal Tool, and ran it. Downloaded NIS09EN1.exe and started it up.
It says it found Kaspersky 6.0 and that I needed to uninstall it. I have never had Kaspersky loaded up on this system. I let Norton's unistall feature run all night, and it was still running the next morning. Had to kill the program via Task Manager. After coming to the forum and reading some threads here, I decided to go to Kaspersky's site and download and run their removal tool. It did not find any instance of Kaspersky 6.0.
In between all these steps, I had rebooted the computer a few times.
In trying to use the NIS install file now, it says it still is seeing Kaspersky.
So, what to do ...
